These Repair Terms & Conditions govern all work performed by Jewelry Repair of Atlanta LLC, a Georgia limited liability company located at 75 John Portman Blvd NW, Suite 8W356A, Atlanta, GA 30303. By leaving property with us, you agree to these terms.
1. Intake and Documentation
We photograph every piece at the time of intake. These photographs, together with your written intake ticket, document the condition of your property when we received it. We keep them on file.
You will receive an intake ticket describing the piece and the work authorized. Please keep it — it is required to collect your property.
2. Estimates and Authorization
All quotes are estimates based on what we can observe before work begins. Concealed damage, prior repairs, and metal fatigue are frequently not visible until a piece is opened up.
We will always contact you and obtain your approval before performing any work beyond what you authorized, or at any price above what we quoted. We do not proceed on additional work without speaking to you first.
3. Rush and Same-Day Service
Same-day jewelry repair is priced 25% above our next-day service rate.
Rush manufacturing orders — any manufacturing job requiring a finished product in fewer than four business days — carry a service fee of 40% of the order total and require payment in full upfront.
4. Deposits
Deposits are required on manufacturing orders. Rush manufacturing orders require full payment upfront. Refund eligibility is described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
5. Our Liability for Your Property
We carry a jewelers block insurance policy covering customer property in our care.
Our liability for loss of or damage to any single item while in our possession is limited to $150,000. We do not accept items with a value exceeding $150,000.
If you believe your piece may approach or exceed this value, tell us at intake so we can discuss it before accepting the work. If you have your own insurance coverage on the piece, we recommend keeping it in force while the item is with us.
6. Inherent Risks of Repair
Jewelry repair carries risks that skill cannot eliminate entirely. By authorizing work, you acknowledge:
- Stones may fracture, chip, or change color during otherwise correct procedures. This risk is elevated for emeralds, opals, pearls, tanzanite, treated stones, and any stone with existing inclusions or fractures.
- Antique and previously repaired pieces may contain concealed damage, prior solder, or metal fatigue not visible at intake.
- Hollow, thin, and worn metal may fail during handling.
- Finishes, patina, and platings may be altered by necessary work.
We will tell you when we identify elevated risk before beginning, and you may decline the work. We are not liable for damage arising from pre-existing conditions or the inherent nature of the materials.
7. Work We Decline
We do not accept:
- Jewelry with a brass or copper base metal, including plated pieces over such base metals
- Watches that cannot be verified as genuine
- Any item valued above $150,000
We reserve the right to decline any work we judge unsafe to attempt or outside our capability, and to stop work and return a piece if we discover such a condition after starting.
8. Workmanship Warranty
Our workmanship is warranted for 30 days from the date you collect your piece, under conditions of normal wear. If our work fails within that period under normal wear, bring the piece back and we will correct it at no charge.
This warranty does not cover damage from impact, abrasion, chemical exposure, or misuse; normal wear to areas we did not repair; pre-existing conditions disclosed at intake; or loss of stones we did not set or secure.
Any repair attempted or completed by another jeweler on the piece after our work voids this warranty entirely. We cannot warrant work whose history we cannot verify.
9. Collection of Your Property
We will notify you when your piece is ready. Payment in full is required at collection, and your intake ticket must be presented. We may require photo identification.
10. Unclaimed Property
We do not sell, melt, donate, or dispose of unclaimed customer property. Items not collected are held securely in our vault.
We will attempt to contact you using the information on your intake ticket. Please keep your contact details current with us.
After 365 days from the date we notify you that your piece is ready, we reserve the right to charge reasonable storage fees, and we reserve all rights and remedies available to us under Georgia's artisan's lien statute with respect to unpaid charges for work performed. Exercising those remedies does not oblige us to dispose of your property, and our practice is to continue holding it.
11. In-Person Service Only
All services are performed in person at our Atlanta location. We do not currently accept mail-in work. Appointments are required.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. The version in effect on the date of your intake ticket governs your transaction.
