Some repairs call for heat. Others would be destroyed by it. We keep both laser and traditional torch equipment in-house so we can choose the right method for your piece instead of forcing one technique onto every job.

Why the method matters
A laser delivers heat to a point measured in fractions of a millimeter, which means we can weld within a hair's distance of an opal, emerald, or pearl without removing it. Torch soldering spreads heat across the whole piece — excellent for structural strength on a plain band, ruinous for a piece with heat-sensitive stones still set. We assess your piece and tell you which approach we're using and why.
Laser welding equipment is a meaningful investment that many neighborhood repair shops don't carry, which is why they mail this work out. Ours is on site, operated by our own jewelers, and many soldering repairs are completed the same day.
Common questions
Will the repair show? On a well-executed solder or weld, no. We finish and polish the area so it matches the surrounding metal.
Do I need to remove my stones first? Usually not. That's the advantage of laser work — most stones stay exactly where they are.
Can you solder my engagement ring and wedding band together? Yes, and we'll check the fit and alignment with you before we commit to it.
