Why chains break where they do
Most chains fail at the same few places: the jump ring next to the clasp, the spring inside the clasp itself, or the link that sits at the back of the neck taking constant friction. Repairing only the broken link puts the piece back into service with the same weak point. We inspect the whole chain, tell you where the next failure is likely, and give you the option to reinforce it while it's already on the bench.
Herringbone and hollow rope chains deserve a specific note — once kinked, they're structurally compromised, and honest repair means telling you when a section needs replacing rather than straightening.
Common questions
Will the repair be visible? On most chain types, no. We match the metal and finish so the repaired link blends with the rest.
My chain is hollow. Can it still be fixed? Often yes, though hollow chains are more fragile and require laser work rather than a torch. We'll be straight with you about durability.
Can you make my necklace shorter? Yes, and we can turn the removed section into a bracelet if there's enough length.
How long does it take? Most chain and clasp repairs are completed the same day.
